1/30/18 Meeting - Member cards, pins, and handbooks were distributed. If you were unable to attend, you may pick yours up at the next meeting. - We are doing another Hope House food pantry drive. Hope House assists children and families affected by HIV. Planned for after spring break. Collect canned goods and toiletries. You get 1 service hour for 3 canned goods or 2 peanut butter jars or a multi-pack of paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.). - Service hours are due January 31st This is also the deadline for eligibility for the service hour contest. Hours may be turned in late. - Go Red For women’s heart heath! Wear RED Friday, 2/2 to show your support! There is also poster making during stripes on Wednesday/Thursday for this event. See Mrs. Kelley to be put in stripes for this activity. - Next meeting/campus clean-up: Tuesday, February 13th!
11/6/17 Meeting - Campus clean up is moved to Tuesday, November 28th due to inclement weather. - T-shirts are in. Get them at room 115. - Teddy Bear Drive- Bring in a bear through December 1st. Bears must be new and at least 14 inches tall. One service hour for shopping per bear. - Last year we collected 75 bears. Let's double that this year!! - Service hour competition- Whoever has the most hours and the most variety wins a gift card. - Service opportunity: Arlington Historic Cemetery- helping with the upkeep by assisting the Kiwanis Club. Strong commitment is needed. You must help if you sign up - Next club meeting is Tuesday, November 28 and will be a campus clean up. - Holiday Social is Tuesday, December 12th in room 115.
10/17/17 Meeting - Sign up for Remind: 81010 then @adhk8e. - T-shirts are still on sale until 10/18 for $7. - Teddy bear Drive: you get one service hour for each bear brought in. The bear must be new and at least 14 inches tall. The drive runs from October 23- December 1. Bears may be dropped off in room 115. - Service hour competition: most hours gets a surprise gift card (including work done over the summer). If there is a tie, the one with the most variety of service wins. - Fall festival K-One Day by Shepherds Haven: Helps adults with special needs and disabilities. There will be entertainment and a lot of fun activities on the band field. Many volunteers needed. Partnering with the local Kiwanis club. Saturday October 28th from 12:30pm-5pm and afterwards for clean up. Report to the "volunteer table" to SIGN IN and SIGN OUT to get credit for the service hours. If there is a lot of volunteers, extras will be at the petting zoo and pony rides. - The next meeting will be Monday, November 6th in room 115.
9/26/17 Meeting - Despite the fire alarm, the Key Club meeting was held today after the alarm ended and students were allowed back in the building. Please do not be stressed if you did not attend. This was an unusual circumstance. - New officers were introduced. - T-shirts will be $7 each. Forms are available in room 115. All orders must be in by Friday, October 6th. No late orders. - Members voted to approve a fall project. Key Club will be having a Teddy Bear Drive for the Memphis Child Advocacy Center, which serves abused children. This project will begin in the latter part of October and run through December 1st. - We had a guest speaker, Jill Peterson-Jones. Ms. Jill is with the Kiwanis Club (the parent group of Key Club) of Arlington/Lakeland. She discussed how Kiwanis and the AHS Key Club can work together to serve others. One project is a fall festival Saturday, October 28th, on our campus. This will benefit a home for special needs adults. Details to come. - Abby Bendall is handling social media and photography for the AHS Key Club. Our Twitter is: AHSkeyclub115 and Instagram is: arlington.keyclub. - Our next meeting will be Tuesday, October 17th after school in room 115. We will have a campus clean up and make posters for the Teddy Bear Drive. - Finish the first quarter strong and have a great fall break!
9/12/17 Meeting - The AHS Key Club website home page features the Remind information. - Members voted to meet twice a month on Tuesdays. - We will have "Campus Clean Up" once a month, weather permitting. - The AHS Key Club website includes a page of possible volunteer opportunities; however, other opportunities of member's choice are certainly accepted for service hours. - Members must have a minimum of 10 service hours per semester, one of which must be a Key Club sponsored activity. Hours should be logged on the volunteer log form (available in room 115 or on the website). - Key Club t-shirts may be ordered. Forms will be available in room 115 on September 20th and will be due September 29th. - Officers were elected: President - Bailey Bridgers; Vice President - Tyrese Perry; Secretary - Hannah Yi; Treasurer - Dani Villarin - The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 26th, after school in the library.
