September 18, 2018 - Officers were nominated for the 2018-2019 Key Club. Members voted using Survey Monkey. The results were: Dani Villarin, - President, Amal Ahmed - Vice President, Shyla Bakshi - Secretary, and Brandon Pham - Treasurer. - Mrs. Certion was our guest speaker. She spoke with our club about having a food drive for the Arlington Free Little Pantry (AFLP). This is scheduled for October 22-November 2. Members can earn volunteer hours by donating a certain number of items. Details to come. - The vision and objectives of the Key Club were discussed. - Members were informed that 10 hours of community service much be completed each semester, one of the ten being an hour associated with the AHS Key Club. Members received service logs via email. - Several members signed up to volunteer at the NICU reunion on Saturday, October 6th at Baptist Women's Hospital. - An announcement was made encouraging members to participate in the JDRF One Walk in memory of Mr. Krosnes. The date of this event is 10/6. October 15, 2018 - Thank you to everyone that volunteered at the NICU Reunion! - Project: Arlington Little Free Pantry - From October 22nd to November2nd we will collect non-perishable food items for this community pantry. - Other upcoming projects include the St. Jude Marathon and the Teddy Bear Drive for the Memphis Child Advocacy Center. - Volunteermatch.org is a source of service project information. Simply enter "Memphis" to find opportunities in our area. - T-shirts proposals were made. - There will be an award for the AHS Key Club member with the most volunteer hours for Semester 1, 2018. - Those interested in becoming our Historian should submit a portfolio or example of how AHS Key Club events would be documented. The deadline is 10/26/18. - Poster-making for the pantry food drive and a campus clean up will be held Thursday, 10/18. Meet in room 115. - The next meeting will be held 11/12/18.
November 12, 2018 - Congratulations to our new Historian, Dara Adamolekun. - Our annual Teddy Bear Drive for the Memphis Child Advocacy Center for abused children will be held from November26th to December 14th. Bears must be new and at least 14 inches tall. Bears should be dropped off in room 115. Bear donations may count for service hours. One bear equates to one hour, with a limit of 3 hours. - The St. Jude marathon is 12/1/18. AHS Key Club volunteers may earn service hours by cheering on the runners. You must go to the St. Jude website to sign up for "spirit spot". Posters will be made in room 115 the week of November 26th. - T-shirt styles were voted on in Survey Monkey. Another Survey Monkey link was sent out to survey t-shirt sizes. - A holiday social gathering was discussed for December. - Semester 1 service hours are due January 22, 2019.
